Vingtor of Norway grew from a simple belief : The products we bring in our lives should carry meaning. A blanket should be more than warmth. A seat pad should be more than comfort. They should connect us to nature, tradition and the places we love.
We are a small Norwegian company rooted in Trollåsen, south of Oslo — a place where the forests thin toward open hillside and the light changes four times before noon. We have been here since 2002, when Reidar and Katrine Ydse began making things they could not find anywhere else: wool products with genuine provenance, honest construction, and a visual language drawn from centuries of Norwegian tradition. As a family owned company , we oar passionate about creating quality products that tells a story. We may be small in size , but we oar big in ambition , craftsmanship , and dedication to what we do.
Inspired by Norwegian nature, heritage and generations of craftsmanship, we create products designed to bring comfort, create memories and be enjoyed for years to come. Everything we make is produced from Norwegian wool — traced from the sheep that graze on Norwegian hillsides, through washing, spinning, and weaving, to the finished product that arrives at your door. We call it "from sheep to shop", and we mean it literally. No synthetic blends. No imported fibre quietly worked in. Just wool from this country, shaped by people in this country, into objects meant to last. Small enough to care. Passionate enough to make a difference.
Our designs draw from the deep well of Norse mythology, Norwegian nature, and Norwegian art. The Northern Lights. The Oseberg ship. Yggdrasil, the world tree. Edvard Grieg's music, woven into wool. Many of our motifs were first drawn by the artist Roar Ydse (1915–1996), whose eye for the mythic geometry of the natural world runs through our patterns still. There is something in a well-made Norwegian textile that holds time differently — it carries the image of the thing and the weight of where it came from, all at once.
We believe in slow fashion. Not as a marketing position, but as the only way we know how to work. Products built to last a generation, not a season — made without waste, designed without shortcuts, finished by people who care what they put their names to.
When you buy from Vingtor, you are not buying something disposable. You are buying something that will outlast trends, that will travel with you, that will fade slowly and beautifully, and that will one day belong to someone you love. We think that matters. We think it might be the only thing that does.
